At approximately 10:00pm on November 11, the Miocene Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at a residential property in the 3000 block of Horsefly Road.

Miocene Fire Chief Stan Pogue said that 17 or 18 volunteers responded, and their crews arrived on scene within seven minutes of receiving the call. They found a structure, thought to be a shop or storage shed, on fire.

The building was completely destroyed by the fire, and an adjacent building received enough damage that it will mostly likely have to be dismantled, as well.

The 150 Mile House Volunteer Fire Department was called in to provide mutual aid in suppressing this blaze. “Approximately eight members from the 150 VFD provided both man power and supplied additional water,” explained Chief Pogue.  BC Hydro was alsocalled to the scene.

The Miocene Fire Department volunteers did an exceptional job of directing traffic in the area with well-placed pylons, LED flashers and hand-held LED wands.

No people or animals were injured in this incident. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
