Among the agenda items for the City Council meeting set for January 8th is the expected renewal of the landing rights and lease to Canadian Helicopters Limited.
The lease with Canadian Helicopters has been in effect since January 1, 1997, when the City of Williams Lake took over the operation of the Airport. The lease renewal is for a two year term commencing July 1, 2012 and ending June 30, 2014 and is for commercial aviation purposes only.
The lease renewal will be retro-active to last July. Renewal was delayed for several months as there was the possibility of both Canadian Helicopters Ltd. and Interior Helicopters Ltd. being named on the Lease Agreement. However, on December 10, 2012 Canadian Helicopters Ltd. requested that the lease be renewed in Canadian Helicopters Ltd. name only. The lease fees shall be $3,455.88 plus HST for both years. As per the Resolution passed by Council in 2009, all lease holders are to be charged the same per metre rate of $1.86.
The Council subsequently received the recommendation that “the proposed renewal of Lease Agreement #CWL1900 with Canadian Helicopter Ltd. at the Williams Lake Regional Airport be received”. Williams Lake City Council will consider approval of the renewed lease agreement at their January 8th meeting.
