Although our time at BC Street has come to a close, it is time to reflect on the incredible success of this economic development initiative.
On Sunday, February 28, BC Street came to a close as the final bang of the closing ceremony fireworks rang throughout the City.
On the final day, the Honourable Kevin Krueger, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts paid a visit to our pavilion, signing our cedar log and tasting some Birch Syrup toffee from the North Cariboo. NDP leader, Carole James, also paid the pavilion a visit.

The last Saturday of the Olympics may have been a rainy one, but that didn’t stop the crowds coming out to experience the best of BC.
The Cariboo pavilion had long line-ups of visitors wanting to get their hands on the last of the beef jerky from Rodear Meats, Canadian Natural Oils from the Hills Health Ranch, the last pieces of Aspenware, biodegradable wooden cutlery, and the most coveted souvenir of all, Cariboo pins!

BC Street Drawing International Acclaim
BC Street, located within the Richmond O Zone, has turned into one of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games ‘must see’ attractions. Through resounding word of mouth, this darling of the Games has ended up attracting upwards of 12,000 visitors each day during the Olympics.
"Original attendance targets were in the 1,000 people a day range," says South Okanagan-Similkameen Regional District representative Annette Antoniak. "The has been an incredible showcase of British Columbia to international guests and journalists, far surpassing our expectations."
Smokey the Bear was a hit at BC Street today
The sun came out again today on BC Street.
The Cariboo Chilcotin Coast pavilion handed out Smokey the Bear swag from the Cariboo Fire Centre to all the kids.

Educating visitors about forestry careers in forestry

The Cariboo Chilcotin Coast BC Street pavilion continues to gain media attention!
CRD Chair Al Richmond spoke to CBC Radio this Wednesday for North by Northwest. Richmond spoke to the many opportunities our region’s forests provide including eco tourism, wilderness adventures, log home building and non-timber forest products which are all showcased in the pavilion.
Trueman Lam from the UBC Faculty of Forestry and John Salewski from the Cariboo Fire Centre joined the BC Street team today to talk to visitors about forestry in our region and education and career opportunities in the field.

It may be raining but that didn’t cool off the Olympic spirit today on BC Street. The Canada vs. Germany Men’s Ice Hockey game brought cheering crowds to the Richmond O Zone despite the weather.
