BC Street Drawing International Acclaim

BC Street, located within the Richmond O Zone, has turned into one of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games ‘must see’ attractions. Through resounding word of mouth, this darling of the Games has ended up attracting upwards of 12,000 visitors each day during the Olympics.
"Original attendance targets were in the 1,000 people a day range," says South Okanagan-Similkameen Regional District representative Annette Antoniak. "The has been an incredible showcase of British Columbia to international guests and journalists, far surpassing our expectations."
The popular family orientated BC Street showcases seven regions of the province: Vancouver Coast & Mountains, Sooke, the District of Tofino, Comox Valley, South Okanagan-Similkameen, the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast and the Kootenay Rockies. It has become a must see destination for Olympic tourists.

Featuring 82 communities from around the province, BC Street began generating strong enthusiasm from the public from the moment it opened on the first day of Olympic competition, and began drawing world-wide media attention shortly after. Renowned international news organizations such as RIA Novoski (Russia), Guangzhou Today (China), as well as dozens of the largest news outlets from across the United States (including the Voice of America) and Europe have covered the BC Street activities. BC Street was also featured on the official Olympic Broadcast Services (OBS) which supplies feature stories of all 60 official Olympic partner broadcasters around the world.
