On the week of June 6th through 10th students from the Williams Lake area elementary schools had the opportunity to demonstrate their individual power, strength and endurance at the annual Track and Field meet. Students in Grade 4 through Grade 7 competed against their peers for points that go toward their schools.

On Monday through Thursday, field events and the 1000 meter run are held at various locations within the area.  Students competed in the high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put and 1000 meter.

To qualify from their prospective schools is a feat in itself, and then to take their efforts to compete against other schools takes exceptional courage. The Elementary T-and-F meet wound up on Friday with the school teams coming to Columneetza to compete in the 100 meter and 400 meter races. School pride is on the line with every event.

Students who place in the top 20 receive points for their school which go toward the last of the  school pennants still in existence.  This year the honour of holding the most points overall went to 150 Mile Elementary while the Handicap points pennant, calculated based on school population, was awarded to Chilcotin Road.
