Loving her job as 'Jesse Madden Photography'
| Business |
By Bev Boyle
Having lived in Williams Lake for most of her life, Jesse Madden discovered her love of photography in the ‘dark room’ during her second year at Okanagan University College (OUC).
Jesse graduated from OUC with a Fine Arts Diploma in 1999. Jesse then was accepted into the North Island College Professional Photography program and spent 10 months immersed in nothing but photography before graduating with a diploma in 2000. She did photography-related work in Victoria for four years before moving back to Williams Lake in 2005.
Jesse puts her passion for photography this way, “I started taking photos to capture moments of my life that I knew would be fleeting. I always had that compulsion to document my life, surroundings, details, friends and family to have them always at those special and ordinary times. This is what I love about doing photography for others; I get to help them capture their special moments, moments that they will have forever because I was there for them. There is nothing like that feeling - photography is magical to me for that reason. It freezes time. You can look back on a photograph and remember exactly how you felt at that time. It's amazing, really, but that's the kind of work that I get to do.”
She started her own business, Jesse Madden Photography, in June of 2011. "But," Jesse says, “I have been doing portraiture for family and friends since I got out of photography school in 2000.”
(Photo: Jesse has been living with her partner Kevin for four years. He has a son, Dayton, 15, who lives with her and Kevin, and together they have a daughter, Kenzie, who is almost eight months old.)
Jesse has continued learning innovative photography and Photoshop techniques and teaches basic photography classes.
She is an outgoing, talented artist with a love of outdoor activities and nature. Jesse has a professional, easy-going nature that puts people at ease.
Jesse Madden Photography specializes in commercial and advertising photography for businesses. Wedding, portrait and photography lessons are also available. Photography lessons can be arranged for groups or individuals. The lesson is focussed on basic photography, composition and an introduction to understanding your camera. This is a fantastic class for anyone who is new to photography as much as it is for those simply wish to create more satisfying images. The price is $65 per person and the session lasts about 2.5 hours.
