Fall has arrived but it doesn’t mean we slow down in the Cariboo. Tryouts for the Williams Lake Stampeders end this week and there are lots of fun events for children and adults. The weather has been fabulous, so get out and have fun.
Williams Lake Over 40’s Activity Group is a group for singles and couples over 40 with similar and varied interests. Activities may include dinners, hiking, camping, movies etc. Always looking for more ideas and people willing to host activities. 8:00pm every Thursday. A prevention initiative to raise awareness about violence against women. This event is free and open to all members of our community.Participate in an evening walk through Williams Lake as a way for women to 'Take Back the Night'. We encourage all members of our community to help recognize this important matter, help raise awareness, promote prevention, honor all of the women affected by violence and support families of victims. Meet at 5:00pm at Boitanio Park.
The Bantam Tier 2 Timberwolves take on the Quesnel Thunder tonight in William Lake at 7:00pm. The Timberwolves play again Saturday morning at 9:00am vs Prince George. This is great free entertainment, and there are big ticket items at the raffle table plus 50/50 draws.

The Williams Lake Minor Hockey Association, along with Participaction BC are hosting a ‘Hockey! TRY IT!’ event this weekend. This event has been created for anyone, of any age, that has ever wanted to try hockey, but never had a chance. It is completely free and includes a few hours of simple on ice drills and games for kids (young and old) to try. It takes place Saturday, September 29 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at the Cariboo Memorial Complex, as well as Sunday from 9:00am until 10:30am. The Williams Lake Boys and Girls Club host their 2nd Annual 'Shifting Gears' Mountain Biking Fundraiser today. 'Shifting Gears' is a non-competitive, fun, family friendly event along the Snakes and Ladders/Spokey Hollow trails, followed by a barbeque in the park and prize draws. Registration is $10 per person or $25 for a family. All proceeds go to our after school programs. Dr. Perry Vitoratos of the Cariboo Dental Clinic invites community members to swim for free at the Sam Ketcham Pool which is located at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex. The event runs from 1:30-3:00pm and the rope swing, slide and diving boards will be open. Come on down and have a splashing good time!
