This week has some wonderful fundraisers and lots of events that will be just plain fun:
Friday February 17
The Annual Rotary Club Giant Book Sale will be in the old Pennington’s location at Boitanio Mall from February 17 to 25. Come down during mall hours and browse the donated books. There is sure to be a treasure waiting for you.
New at the Cariboo Growers Market this week are crisp, sweet carrots, parsnips, red onions and new ork and turkey bratwurst, and pork smokies.
The Library hosts Preschool Storytime from 10:30am to 11:15am for ages 3-6. The Royal Canadian Legion hosts their Friday Meat Draw from 5:00pm to 6:00pm this evening. They are located at 385 Barnard Street in Williams Lake.
Ladies Night Open House: Women in Business will take place Friday February 17 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Chilcotin Road Elementary School. A host of vendors will be available to showcase their beautiful, unique, and desirable products. There will be a variety of successful home-based businesses, including Norwex, Pursicles, Mary Kay, Scentsy, Just 4 U Soaps, Lia Sophia, and many more. The SPCA will be providing coffee, tea, and virgin martinis. Proceeds will go to purchase playground equipment for the school.
Saturday February 18
The Legion hosts their Saturday Meat Draw from 3:00pm to 5:00pm this afternoon.
Sunday February 19
Sundays at the Legion, crib and shuffleboard will be available beginning at 1:00pm. Everyone is welcome.
Monday February 20
The StrongStart program is available for ages 0-5 from Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 12:00pm at Marie Sharpe, Cataline, and Mountview Elementary Schools. This is a play-based learning program and is a great way to get your little one ready for kindergarten.
There is a Sportsmen’s Association Meeting this evening at the club house on Bond Lake Road. The meeting begins at 7:00pm.
Tuesday February 21
150 Mile House Elementary School has the StrongStart program every Tuesday from 8:30am to 11:30am. The Library offers Toddler Time from 10:30am to 11:00am every Tuesday for ages 0-3.
There will be a Youth Advisory Council Meeting this evening at the library from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. This will be the first such meeting and Williams Lake’s teens are invited to participate in this wonderful project. Gain some volunteer experience for your resume by helping to organize events, working on special library projects, and sharing your opinion. The meeting will be in the library’s Program Room.
The Station House Gallery has After-School Art Classes each Tuesday and Wednesday. This is a fun, flexible program which offers multiple learning opportunities. Wednesday February 22

The Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at C.J.’s Southwestern Grill at 12:05pm.
The Williams Lake Speed Skating club meets for practice each Wednesday from 3:15pm to 4:15pm. The cost is $75.00 for ten sessions. For more information, contact Yvonne at 250-398-2354.
From 6:30pm to 7:30pm at the Salvation Army, join Ellen Paynton for a Women’s Only Fitness Class. This is a free program for women and child minding is available. Call the Women’s Contact Society at 250-392-4118 for more information.
Thursday February 23
Wildwood Elementary School has the StrongStart program from 9:00am to 12:00pm each Thursday.
The Legion invites community members to a Seniors Luncheon and music starting at noon.
Every Thursday, the Legion Branch 139 hosts Pasta Thursday, a Legion fundraiser. Dinner is from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and includes pasta and sauce, garlic bread, and caesar salad, all for just $6.00. The Legion would like to welcome the community to participate in this wonderful evening of good food and great company.

Mainstream Square and Round Dance is held every Thursday evening at 7:00pm at the Child Development Centre in Williams Lake. Everyone is welcome, so join them and have some weeknight fun.
