New activities and events are coming up this week in Williams Lake. From kids’ art to speed skating, and from pasta to a Japan travel presentation—there’s something for you and your family to enjoy.
Friday February 3
New this week at the Cariboo Growers Market are shallots from Meldrum Creek Ranch, local apples from Wineglass Ranch, as well as packages of beef stew and famous beef smokies.
Saturday February 4
The Williams Lake Secondary School Girls Soccer league is holding a dessert and auction fundraiser on Saturday at the WLSS commons at 7:00pm. It will be a silent and live auction, with over 50 items, including a Carey Price jersey, a custom-wrapped bar fridge, a 42” TV, an X-Box, tools and more. Tickets are available at Scotiabank, WLSS and DG’s Car Wash.
The Legion hosts their Saturday Meat Draw from 3:00pm to 5:00pm this afternoon.
Sunday February 5
All are welcome to meet with friends at Super Bowl Sunday at the Legion from noon on. Members and guests are invited to enjoy an afternoon of snacks and big screen sports action.
Monday February 6
‘Boppin with Mr. Mynah’ opens at the Station House Gallery at 10:00am. It’s an art collection open every Monday that includes four Canadian artists who have teamed up to produce an ‘exhibition in a tube.’
The StrongStart program is available for ages 0-5 from Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 12:00pm at Marie Sharpe, Cataline, and Mountview Elementary Schools. This is a play-based learning program and is a great way to get your little one ready for kindergarten.
The Williams Lake Indian Band and Mt. Polley are holding an agreement-signing ceremony at the WLIB gym from noon to 1:30pm.
Tuesday February 7
150 Mile House Elementary School has the StrongStart program every Tuesday from 8:30am to 11:30am.
The Library offers Toddler Time from 10:30am to 11:00am every Tuesday for ages 0-3.
The Station House Gallery has After-School Art Classes each Tuesday and Wednesday. This is a fun, flexible program which offers multiple learning opportunities. There is a free budgeting workshop put on by the Cariboo Chilcotin Partners for Literacy from 6:00pm to 8:30pm in the public library.
Wednesday February 8
For the month of February, children from ages 9 through 12 are invited to participate in the XploreSportz Program, in which they will have the opportunity to learn seven different sports. The Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at C.J.’s Southwestern Grill at 12:05pm.
The Williams Lake Speed Skating club meets for practice each Wednesday from 3:15pm to 4:15pm. The cost is $75.00 for ten sessions. For more information, contact Yvonne at 250-398-2354.
From 6:30pm to 7:30pm at the Salvation Army, join Ellen Paynton for a Women’s Only Fitness Class. This is a free program for women, and child minding is available. Call the Women’s Contact Society at 250-392-4118 for more information
The Legion is hosting a seniors luncheon at noon every second Wednesday.
Thursday February 9
Wildwood Elementary School has the StrongStart program from 9:00am to 12:00pm each Thursday.
This week’s Armchair Traveler event at the Library will be ‘Japan’ with Carl Johnson. The evening begins at 7:00pm, and as there is limited seating, pre-registration is recommended. Call 250-392-3630 for more information or to register.

The Legion hosts its regular Thursday pasta night fundraiser. All are welcome.
The Dry Grad Decorating Committee volunteers are needed for input and ideas for this year’s graduation. The group meets in the retail space next to the Bank of Montreal at 6:30pm
