"Throughout my life and career I've learned from my parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, elders, leaders, and fellow Xeni Gwet’in and Tsilhqot’in community members. During my upbringing, I learned and practiced Tsilhqot’in values through my elders teaching me our stories and historic accounts and through living with my elders and community in the Tsilhqot’in way. I have also learned from my education off-reserve and from my cultural research, which I have been working on for years." As a community leader, Roger says he has always listened and learned from the Tsilhqot’in people.Because of his life experiences, he is in the position to present a Tsilhqot’in perspective and perpetuate the culture.
