Williams Lake RCMP call in outside investigators
| News |
A 35-year-old male was injured and hospitalized following his arrest in the Cariboo recently. The man reportedly would not pull over for police and rammed marked police cruisers during a lengthy ‘joy ride’on highways and back roads from Quesnel to Alexis Creek, where the driver was apprehended.
Williams Lake RCMP have confirmed that they called the West Vancouver Police Department (WVPD) to investigate events surrounding that arrest.
Williams Lake RCMP asked several investigators from the outside force to conduct a criminal examination of the event, and the Commission for Public Complaints Against the RCMP has also been notified.
The WVPD has assigned a number of investigators who will deal with this investigation in a fair, transparent, and timely manner.
At this time, no date has been established as to when the WVPD will be making a public statement.

We were just leaving Quesnel when he nearly clipped us as we were coming around a corner. Then he proceeded to nearly cause a couple other accidents. After seeing five police cars pass us we were wondering if they had caught up to him. We didn't see anything along the way so we thought for sure they never caught up to him."
