Williams Lake News and Events online - reporting live from Williams Lake City Council meeting July 17, 2012Williams Lake economic idicators for the first half of 2012 show that unemployment rates in Williams Lake are 7.8% for the first half of 2012, compared to 6.7% in BC. Williams Lake and the province were matched in 2011 at 7.4%.

Vacancy rates in Williams Lake are 10.7% so far this year, up slightly from last year. Manager of Social Develpment Anne Burrill explained that those rates are based mainly on one room apartments and bachelor suites and that when it comes to three-bedroom apartments or town houses, Williams Lake would be closer to 24%.

New construction is up in 2012 from last year.
