News
070312_food_vendorsCouncil is being asked to approve a 'mobile vendors pilot project' for the 2012 season in Courthouse (Spirit) Square, Kiwanis Park, Boitanio Park and Herb Gardner Park and authorize City staff to advertise for mobile vendor participation in the pilot project.

City planner Liliana Dragowski said that staff looked at food vendors in other cities in preparing this report, and opened it up for questions. She also said that they wanted to put this forward as a pilot project until they have the opportunity for public input and further research.

She explained that until now mobile vendors have been restricted by City bylaw to private property.

Questions raised included spacing between the vendors and water accessibility, and variety of foods on the menus.

Mayor Cook said that this issue stemmed from mobile vendors requesting permission to sell on the streets.

Council voted unanimously in favour of the pilot project.
