Williams Lake U-13 soccer: taking Prince George by storm
| Sports |
Williams Lake U-13 ‘Storm’ Rep Soccer team travelled to Prince George over the weekend for a two game series against Prince George (PG) to decide the regional championship, with the winner advancing to the provincial finals.

In the first game the Storm came out slowly and fell behind early to a determined PG team. Williams Lake (WL) managed to even the game at 1-1 early in the second half but a late goal by PG put the game away with a 2-1 win for PG.
WL came into the second game knowing they needed to win the game, and by at least two goals, if they wanted to take the series and move on. After a scoreless first half WL netted an early goal to take a 1-0 lead, and added a late goal with only a few minutes left to take a 2-0 lead. PG threw everything they had at WL to try and even the series goal count but WL held them off with stellar defense by the entire team and the game ended 2-0 for WL.
The 2-0 win in the second game gave the WL team a 3-2 aggregate score for the series and they took home the medals and advanced to the provincial finals in Aldergrove July 5-8.
