The Lakecity continues to produce high-level athletes who are moving on to represent the city at the National and International levels. Local water-skiing athletes, and father and son, Parnell and Conley Pinette were in the spotlight during the Canadian Water-skiing Championships recently in Abbottsford.

Two local race car drivers in the ARCA West Sportsman Series were on hand to meet fans and autograph photos yesterday at Canadian Tire. Garnet Grimard and Ryley Seibert gave shoppers, fans, old friends and new ones the chance to meet two Williams Lake drivers who have put their home town on the map.
With one race to go in the series, points standings indicate that #52 Garnett Grimard is in first place with a total of 240 points and Ryley Seibert is in 4th place with 207 points.
Montreal Canadiens: Two-year contract for Carey Price
Montreal Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier announced today the signing of goaltender Carey Price to a two-year contract (2010-11 and 2011-12). As per Club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
“We are extremely happy that Carey has agreed to pursue his career with the Canadiens. Carey is a key member of our Club. He has proven that he has what it takes to be a good goaltender in the league, and we are confident he will perform to the best of his abilities for years to come in a Canadiens uniform”, said Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier.
Neck-and-neck competition at Thunder Mountain Speedway

Thunder Mountain Speedway hosted the annual Memorial Day Races on Saturday night which began with the all the drivers on the track at once performing a 'Black Flag lap'. The 'Black Flag lap' allows racers and race fans to pay tribute to fellow racers who have passed away.
The racers being remembered were #31 Lenny Todd, #57 Trever Fisher, #60 Darren Pye. Also represented were #44 Ernie Engemoen, volunteers Chris Hawkins and Rick Horner, all of whom all passed away within the past two years. There were also racers of seasons long past, #56 Gerry Westwick and #95 Al Price.

It was good, hard, competitive racing the whole night. The six Bone Stocks ran nose to tail during their man event, as did the Pro Minis until the very last lap when a crash put the leader and another car out of the race.
Local mud racers do well in Chilliwack
Aug 14 and 15 saw local racers Curt Morben and Jack Maunu (The BOSS), Scott Clay (RICOCHET) along with Lac La Hache racers Andy Antle (DEFRIBULATOR) and Jim Mead (BOONDOGGLE) head to Heritage Park in Chilliwack for two days of out and out high powered mud racing action. The local racers are all competing in the North West Mud Racing "Amix Salvage" points series. In 38 degree weather the competition was as fierce as the heat they were racing in.
Thunder Mountain Speedway races all about Mini and Dwarf cars

Saturday evening was the Thunder Mountain Speedway 2010 All Mini Invitational. The Pacific Northwest Dwarf Car Challenge was also in town for their final race of the season. According to Al Goldie, "The battle for the championship is very close at this point, the top 4 cars are less than 100 points apart and it could be anyone's trophy by the end of the day".
