Last weekend Adam Piccolo was thrilled with the numbers of anxious skiiers and snowboarders. The numbers were the highest they had seen at the mountain in 10 years. Saturday saw 240 lift tickets sold and on Sunday an additional 207 more lift tickets were purchased.

Unfortunately, an o-ring leak on the brake back up which forced Piccolo and his team to resurrect the T- bar. “That the reason we still have the T-bar, for incidences just like this one,” Piccolo stated. It didn’t stop skiiers from having a great opening weekend up at the mountain.

The new Red Rock Bistro food services was hopping all day serving up delicious food to guests. Fan favorites included waffle fries and hot sandwiches from the Panini grill.

The day lodge will be open daily until January 6th with the exception of Christmas Day. If you like playing in the snow in your own backyard, head up to Mt. Timothy for a day of fun and incredible snow conditions.

This weekend marks the winter opening of Mt. Timothy, the family-oriented ski hill located in the heart of British Columbia's Cariboo range. Situated near Lac La Hache in the Cariboo Chilcotin, Mt. Timothy offers 35 ski runs, a variety of terrain suited to every age and level of ability and five chair lifts to get you there. Over half the terrain consists of medium to advanced trails, however there is more than enough beginner terrain to get you going!

The summit tops out at over 1,600 meters (5,400 feet) and one area does sport a vertical drop off of over 300 meters (1,000 feet) so watch your step or you'll be seeing much more of the wilderness much faster than you expected. The views are, needless to say, spectacular.

Mount Timothy is opening in the Cariboo this weekend!

Outdoor enthusiasts love to explore and call the vast northern mountains their winter playground where they enjoy snowmobiling, skiing, snowshoeing and other backcountry adventures.

"The RCMP and Search and Rescue are never called when people are having a good time, only when tragedy hits or someone needs help," stated Constable Lesley Smith North District Media Relations Officer. "Before you seek out your thrill for adventure, be sure you are well prepared for the potential dangers that come with playing in Canada’s snowy mountainous environments."
