Al Richmond receives Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee MedalIn honour of the contributions he has made to the Cariboo Chilcotin, CRD Chair Al Richmond was presented with a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal during a special presentation today by Quesnel Mayor and CRD Director Mary Sjostrom.

“I am honoured, and humbled to be presented with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal,” stated CRD Chair Al Richmond. “It is a privilege to serve the residents of Electoral Area G and the Regional District; it is a role I take very seriously and am dedicated to making sure the voice of our residents is heard by senior levels of government.”

PostHeaderIcon Gas Tax funds for Mountview area denied

CRD logoThe Cariboo Regional District has recently learned that its second application to the Gas Tax Program submitted in 2011 for the $15 million required to construct the Mountview Water and Sewer System, was not approved. Over 200 applications were submitted during the last intake for a total request of $440 million, however; only $53 million was available for distribution.

PostHeaderIcon Williams Lake CAO position remains open

Mayor Kerry Cook and Council have decided that Don DeGagne will not be appointed as CAO for the City of Williams Lake on March 1.

“We have great respect for the many years of experience, accomplishments and skills that Mr. DeGagne has to offer, says Mayor Cook, “However, Council has decided that this was not the
best fit for our particular needs at this time.” The City will be continuing their search for a new CAO.

“We wish Mr. DeGagne the best of luck and we are confident that, with his experience, accomplishments and skills, he will have success in his future endeavours.”
 

PostHeaderIcon City Council ratifies tentative agreement with IUOE Local 882-B

In an in-camera Council meeting last night, the City of Williams Lake unanimously ratified the tentative collective agreement with the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 882-B.

It is expected that the IUOE members will vote on ratification of the tentative agreement in the very near future and until that occurs no further details will be released.

Mark Thiessen, Superintendent oschool_dist_27f Schools has announced the appointment of Mr. David DeRose District Principal, First Nations Education.

Mr. DeRose will be returning to School District 27 after working for the Gold Trail School District and District Principle of Aboriginal Education since August 2010.
