Letters - Letter to the Editor

letter_editorEditor:

Years ago, it was my good fortune to be sitting next to Hinton Town Manger Bernie Kriener, if I recall correctly, at the Hinton table during the Federation of Canadian Municipalities gathering in St John's while Jack Layton was speaking.

Being a 'Red Necked Reformer' with a capital ‘R’, I was totally amazed that Jack even spoke to me, let alone called me by name. He made his way over to our table, having spotted town councillor Judy Blakely.  His intent was to find out how his old friend, former Mayor and all-round Ambassador, Ross Risvold's health was doing; but he stayed long enough to make each and every one of us at that table feel special.

Though we might never achieve it, his of statesmanship and humanity is something we can all aspire to; what a wonderful role model for us all.

After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.  ~J.K. Rowling

God rest you Jack
