Williams Lake Credit Union donates computers to School District #27
| Human interest |
Representatives of Williams Lake and District Credit Union's Information Systems Department recently handed over 20 computers and nine keyboards to School District 27.
(Barry Rawlek, SD #27; Mark Berezan and Dan Peters, WLDCU; and Ken Matieshen, SD #27 are pictured here with the donated computers.)
The credit union replaces its computers based on a 3-5 year cycle. Although the donated computers had reached the end of this cycle, the fact that they were high-end models meant that they were still usable in the workplace.
"It had come to my attention that the School District was in need of computers. Rather than purchasing new computers, the District generally purchases leased computers that are in the 3 – 5 old year range," said Mark Berezan, the credit union's Manager, Information Systems and Technology.
"The computers we had available met their criteria. It was felt that since giving back to the community is a key objective of the credit union the computers would find a good home with the district."
The recently donated equipment will go to locations within the District which are currently using computers over five years old and are most in need of updated computers.
