A rare and meaningful gift has been presented to Horsefly resident Bill Webb. In a fierce battle with cancer that he is facing with true ‘cowboy courage’, Bill was recently given a beautiful gift--one with long legs and the key to a cowboy’s heart.

City contributes to Kids Running for Kids BBQ

Acting Chief Administrative Officer Geoff Goodall is requesting Council to authorize a recognition of the ‘Kids Running for Kids’ BC Children's Hospital Fundraising Event at the last Performances in the Park on August 16, 2012. Staff is asked to prepare certificates for all participants and Council are asked to volunteer their time for the event. It is estimated that the cost for this event would be approximately $400 and would come out of Council’s contingency fund.

New faces and the ‘usual suspects’ at the Tour de Cariboo

The 20th Tour de Cariboo has been described as ‘fun, exciting, a great cause, a highlight of the year, a good reason to get back on your bike and an exceptional thing to do with your kids.’
One of the riders who has ‘done the Tour’ from Williams Lake to Gavin Lake to raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters from the very first year, is Marten Lettinga.
SPCA thanks RCMP Constable Champagne for speaking for animals

A special thank you presentation took place this week when the Williams Lake SPCA shelter manager Liz Dighton and Dale Bakken from the BC SPCA Cruelty Investigations Department met with RCMP Constable Colin Champagne to thank him for his help in ‘speaking for animals.’
(Constable Champagne was thanked for ‘taking the bull by the horns’ in assisting with several major cruelty investigations with the SPCA. He is pictured here with local shelter manager Liz Dighton and Dale Bakken with BC SPCA Cruelty Investigations.)
