061912_NAD_paradeThe community is invited to come together tomorrow to celebrate local First Nations history, tradition and culture at the annual National Aboriginal Day celebration in Williams Lake.

The event is put on by the Northern Shuswap Tribal Council, and begins with a parade on Oliver Street, beginning at 1st Avenue and ending in Boitanio Park.

There will be vendors in the park, including bannock stands, face painting and arts and crafts. The theme of the celebration is ‘youth’ and visitors can enjoy things like a talent show, poetry reading and a ‘bouncy toy’ for kids.

The parade begins at 10:00am and the events in Boitanio Park run from 11:00am to 2:30pm.
