We’ve had our first blast of snow, reminding us that along with the fun things to do in the area, we have our normal winter responsibilities. Snow tires? Check. Antifreeze? Check. Chimney cleaned? Check. Buy bag of rock salt? Check. Okay, enough of that!
Read on to see what great events are available for the next week in the Cariboo.

For those of our readers that are new to the Cariboo, you might have heard that our weather can be a bit fickle. For example, this next week will probably have some rain, some thundershowers, some sun, a cloudy day or two and (gulp) a good possibility of snow! We don’t let any of that stop us, so get out and have some fun!

What to do in the Cariboo this week
The temperatures may have taken a dip this week accompanied by a few snow flakes, but that simply means we get to exercise a different section of our wardrobe! Light sweaters, and autumn jackets – it’s good to see you again. There is no prettier place to be than the Cariboo in the fall. It is the perfect time to load up the dogs, take a drive in any direction from Williams Lake and soak in the colours. You might take along a bag of marshmellows and warm up by a little fire, since the burn ban in the Cariboo was completely lifted last week.Thursday, Ocotber 4
Author and inspirational speaker, Glenda Standeven will be at the Williams Lake Library on October 4th from 7:00pm - 8:00pm to share light-hearted excerpts from her story in the book, 'Choosing to Smile' which she co-authored with two friends. Standeven, a former resident of Williams Lake, feels she has a good reason to smile - she is a 25 year bone cancer survivor who lost her entire right leg, including her hip and pelvis, to the disease in 1988. She describes herself as a ''cancer thriver'' not just a cancer survivor.
