Trevor Mack is a 20-year-old Chilcotin from Williams Lake who grew up in the Anaheim Reserve and Williams Lake. He graduated from Columneetza Secondary School in June of 2010 and moved to Vancouver for the Motion Picture Arts Program at Capilano University. He graduated with his certificate and has competed in the Red Bull Ice in four different world championship events.
His latest venture is a short film called ‘The Blanketing’ and the movie is written, directed and produced by the Tsilqot’in (Chilcotin) filmmaker.
‘The Blanketing’ takes place in the mid 1800’s “and is a metaphorical non-linear story about a confrontation between a tribe of First Nations in Northwest America and several road builders. The short film delves into the controversial subject of the smallpox outbreak that nearly exterminated the entire Tsilhqot'in people as well as the infamous Chilcotin War.”

Williams Lake’s own hometown musician, Don Alder, has received the prestigious Brand Laureate International Brand Personality Award, making the acoustic guitarist only the second Canadian to receive the prestigious award.
In a ceremony on March 27, the President of the Asia Pacific Brands Foundation, Dr. K. K. Johan, said Alder received the award in honor of his status as a world-leading fingerstyle guitarist. What sets Alder apart from the crowd, he said, is his unique style of playing. Incorporating fingerpicking with simultaneous percussion to create a wall of sound. Listening to you play is a feast for the senses.
Funding brings out the artistic side of the Cariboo
The BC Arts Council (BCAC) has approved grants to support arts and culture in the Cariboo. Three arts councils received over $15,000 from the BC Arts Council.
Across the province, artists and cultural organizations will share $8.36 million in the latest round of BCAC grants. The funding comes from $16.8 million provided by the B.C. government to the BCAC for fiscal year 2012-13.
“Arts councils help promote artistic works in our communities and make them a more enjoyable place to live," said Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett. "I’m glad to see the BC Arts Council providing funding for our arts councils here in the Cariboo, helping them promote artistic expression.”
